» Ski week for a family (with teenagers) that doesn't know how to ski
I would like to take my three sons, ages 10, 14, and 18, skiing for a week at Christmas. They have never skiied or snowboarded and I haven't done so in 25 years. Since we live in Southern California, the logical places to go would be in the Western U.S. or in Canada, I guess. I'd love to find a place where we wouldn't need to use a car at all once we get there--where we could walk to the lifts, or ski in and ski out. We'll need lesson packages, week-long lift tickets, and also equipment rental package. Ideally, our rental/lesson packages could permit the kids to go back and forth between snowboarding, downhill skiing and cross country skiing so they could see what they liked best. Actually, I am living proof that that is not true! When I was eight months pregnant, I was walking out to my car after work in a snowstorm, and I fell into a pothole in the parking lot that was hidden under the snow and injured my leg pretty badly. Luckily, it wasn't broken, but I was literally sitting in a giant pothole. Thank goodness there were people that saw me and ran over to help, because I could have been run over by a car. There were cars all over the parking lot, and it was snowing heavily, so it was hard enough to see as it was. I have been told Nikon D300's are made in China and Japan. and that the one made in china is inferior. I have also been told that all D300's are made in Taiwan and now I read that some are made in the US. I just bought a Daewoo L700C 17-inch monitor and, although the display is generally better than my old CRT (no dead pixels, too!), I find this irritating (I confess I am easily irritated) ghost image-like shadow on the right-hand side of text in Windows buttons. That's the bizzare thing. The text on Windows buttons, icons and menus and desktop is all a wee bit fuzzy. Everything else seems just fine! Why does this happen? It's certainly hot and humid right now in Georgia. I was in our house's attic this past week and couldn't believe just how hot it was up there in the afternoon. We recently had a new roof put on due to hail storm damage, and the original square vents were replaced with ridge vents per the contractors advice. Maybe it was just cheaper for him to do this, or maybe it is now code, I don't know. It just seems hotter now than I ever remember in the 7 years in this house. My question is do I need to do more to remove the heat? Would an exhaust fan help? I have a PHP script that sends a user to a homepage called index.php then redirects them to one of six random homepages. I using this script to test the effectiveness of different homepages. Now I want to modify the script, so each user will see the same version of the homepage they saw when they first visited if they visit again. From a experience perspective I don't want a returning user to see a different homepage or they might think they've visited the wrong site. I'm assuming that I should set a cookie to do this and place the cookie code before the code that chooses a random homepage. Long story short... chased that monster supercell from near Paxton, IL and ended the chase around Newtown, Indiana. Did see one possible tornado, or at least a very large bowl shaped funnel cloud near Attica, IN. Had an intense moment near the IL/IN border, when I got caught in the RFD of the supercell. Winds were easily near 80 MPH moving my car, while a grungy white wall cloud spun in front of me. Hi there. I'm currently making a small layout and I'm trying to get the effect of an object (such as a ballon or anything similar) to pop when you press it. I gave it a go earlier. I have the object. Its floating as an idle animation. You mouse over it and it enlarges but continues to float. But the next bit I just couldn't figure out. Question I just bought a 460 and the support tray below the working area does not lay down flat when its unfolded as in the picture, I had Reed pipe vise for years and it laid down flat, am I missing something? this vise came assembled from Grainger?One of the set screws on the inside of the leg needs to be loosened and the tray should lay flat. I have a Word template that has an Excel object in it, to allow users to add many rows of data (instead of using a Word table). This is working well, but now a user wants to add so much data that the object fills a whole page. Typically, the users add 5-10 files and the object stays on one page, sometimes pushing the bottom part of the document onto a second page. This user needs to add something like 50 files to the object though. When the object is stretched to try to show all 50 items, it fills the page (in Landscape mode) and cannot show the remaining 5 or so objects. I would like to take my three sons, ages 10, 14, and 18, skiing for a week at Christmas. They have never skiied or snowboarded and I haven't done so in 25 years. Since we live in Southern California, the logical places to go would be in the Western U.S. or in Canada, I guess. It's certainly hot and humid right now in Georgia. I was in our house's attic this past week and couldn't believe just how hot it was up there in the afternoon. Did see one possible tornado, or at least a very large bowl shaped funnel cloud near Attica, IN. Had an intense moment near the IL/IN border, when I got caught in the RFD of the supercell. Winds were easily near 80 MPH moving my car, while a grungy white wall cloud spun in front of me. Hi there. I'm currently making a small layout and I'm trying to get the effect of an object (such as a ballon or anything similar) to pop when you press it. I gave it a go earlier. I have the object. Its floating as an idle animation. You mouse over it and it enlarges but continues to float. But the next bit I just couldn't figure out. I have a Word template that has an Excel object in it, to allow users to add many rows of data (instead of using a Word table). This is working well, but now a user wants to add so much data that the object fills a whole page. Typically, the users add 5-10 files and the object stays on one page, sometimes pushing the bottom part of the document onto a second page. This user needs to add something like 50 files to the object though. When the object is stretched to try to show all 50 items, it fills the page (in Landscape mode) and cannot show the remaining 5 or so objects.
